H.R. No. 1051
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Brett May and Selah Cline of West Hardin High School
in Saratoga won the 2A title at the University Interscholastic
League Cross-Examination Debate State Meet, held on March 13 and
14, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Competing against some of the brightest students in
Texas, Mr. May and Ms. Cline gave an outstanding performance to
become the 2A Conference state champions; and
WHEREAS, The triumph was the culmination of West Hardin
High's success in cross-examination debate over the past three
years; Mr. May teamed with Christian Lewis to reach the octafinals
at the 2015 state meet, and the duo of Mr. May and Ms. Cline
represented the school at the event in 2016, earning an
Octafinalist Award for their efforts; and
WHEREAS, Through their skill, hard work, and commitment to
excellence, Brett May and Selah Cline have distinguished themselves
in statewide competition, and they may reflect with pride on a job
well done; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Brett May and Selah Cline on
winning the UIL 2A cross-examination debate state championship and
extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
for Mr. May and Ms. Cline as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
