H.R. No. 1066 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Klein Forest High School boys' basketball team enjoyed a memorable 2016-2017 season, winning their third consecutive district title and advancing all the way to the University Interscholastic League 6A Region 2 final on March 4; and WHEREAS, Playing under the direction of head coach Cary Black and his staff, the Golden Eagles compiled a perfect record in the regular season and secured the District 15-6A championship; and WHEREAS, Klein Forest opened the postseason with a dominating 102-39 victory over Nimitz High School and went on to defeat teams from Cedar Ridge, Westfield, and Dallas Jesuit High Schools; during the regional final showdown against the squad from Skyline High School in Dallas, the Golden Eagles made a valiant effort but ultimately fell short, concluding the season with an impressive record of 34 wins and just a single loss; and WHEREAS, Relying on a true team effort all year long, the Golden Eagles received important contributions from each member of the roster: Cedrick Alley, Taj Simmons, Reggie Miller, Tavion Robinson, Durey Cadwell, Calvin William, Kharee McDaniel, Calvin Solomon, Kamron Jackson, D'Angelo Smith, Kenneth Morris, and Reggie Tolden; and WHEREAS, An inspiring team that played with great skill and determination, the Klein Forest Golden Eagles have earned the admiration of their fellow students and their many community supporters, and they may indeed reflect with great pride on their many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Klein Forest High School boys' basketball team on an outstanding 2016-2017 season and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
