45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Harriet Davis of Girl Scout Troop No. 6839 has
67 attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly
78 merits recognition; and
89 WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Davis successfully
910 met a series of requirements emphasizing community service,
1011 personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership
1112 skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Gold
1213 Award project that involved installing a little free library on
1314 each of three campuses in the Lubbock Independent School District;
1415 the little free library movement encourages the community to "take
1516 a book, leave a book," making the sites self-sustaining; and
1617 WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging
1718 young women to explore career opportunities and to become more
1819 socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its
1920 participants achieve their greatest potential as engaged citizens
2021 and leaders; and
2122 WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Davis has
2223 demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest
2324 ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on
2425 a job well done; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate Harriet Davis on her receipt of the
2728 Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for
2829 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Ms. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3132 House of Representatives.
