| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Harriet Davis of Girl Scout Troop No. 6839 has |

| 6 | 7 | | attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly |

| 7 | 8 | | merits recognition; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Davis successfully |

| 9 | 10 | | met a series of requirements emphasizing community service, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Gold |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Award project that involved installing a little free library on |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | each of three campuses in the Lubbock Independent School District; |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the little free library movement encourages the community to "take |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | a book, leave a book," making the sites self-sustaining; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging |

| 17 | 18 | | young women to explore career opportunities and to become more |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | participants achieve their greatest potential as engaged citizens |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and leaders; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Davis has |

| 22 | 23 | | demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |

| 23 | 24 | | ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on |

| 24 | 25 | | a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Harriet Davis on her receipt of the |
