H.R. No. 1076 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Harriet Davis of Girl Scout Troop No. 6839 has attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits recognition; and WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Davis successfully met a series of requirements emphasizing community service, personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Gold Award project that involved installing a little free library on each of three campuses in the Lubbock Independent School District; the little free library movement encourages the community to "take a book, leave a book," making the sites self-sustaining; and WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging young women to explore career opportunities and to become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its participants achieve their greatest potential as engaged citizens and leaders; and WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Davis has demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Harriet Davis on her receipt of the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
