| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, At the age of 23, Edna-Mae Mata has become one of the |

| 6 | 7 | | youngest female officers in the Brownsville Police Department; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Mata began working for the police department |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | when she was still a student at Pace Early College High School; |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | during her senior year, her interest in law enforcement led her to |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | participate in an extensive internship in the communications |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | division; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, After graduating, Ms. Mata became a dispatcher with |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the department; that position sparked an even greater interest in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | police work, and after turning 21, she entered the police academy |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | while continuing to work part-time as a dispatcher; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Each day, Brownsville residents rely on the skill, |

| 17 | 18 | | professionalism, and dedication of law enforcement officers, and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | through her commitment to protecting and serving the community, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Officer Mata has earned the admiration and appreciation of her |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |

| 21 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 22 | 23 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Edna-Mae Mata on joining the |

| 23 | 24 | | Brownsville Police Department and extend to her sincere best wishes |
