45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, At the age of 23, Edna-Mae Mata has become one of the
67 youngest female officers in the Brownsville Police Department; and
78 WHEREAS, Ms. Mata began working for the police department
89 when she was still a student at Pace Early College High School;
910 during her senior year, her interest in law enforcement led her to
1011 participate in an extensive internship in the communications
1112 division; and
1213 WHEREAS, After graduating, Ms. Mata became a dispatcher with
1314 the department; that position sparked an even greater interest in
1415 police work, and after turning 21, she entered the police academy
1516 while continuing to work part-time as a dispatcher; and
1617 WHEREAS, Each day, Brownsville residents rely on the skill,
1718 professionalism, and dedication of law enforcement officers, and
1819 through her commitment to protecting and serving the community,
1920 Officer Mata has earned the admiration and appreciation of her
2021 fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
2122 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2223 Legislature hereby congratulate Edna-Mae Mata on joining the
2324 Brownsville Police Department and extend to her sincere best wishes
2425 for a successful and rewarding career in law enforcement; and, be it
2526 further
2627 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2728 prepared for Officer Mata as an expression of high regard by the
2829 Texas House of Representatives.
