H.R. No. 1156 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, At the age of 23, Edna-Mae Mata has become one of the youngest female officers in the Brownsville Police Department; and WHEREAS, Ms. Mata began working for the police department when she was still a student at Pace Early College High School; during her senior year, her interest in law enforcement led her to participate in an extensive internship in the communications division; and WHEREAS, After graduating, Ms. Mata became a dispatcher with the department; that position sparked an even greater interest in police work, and after turning 21, she entered the police academy while continuing to work part-time as a dispatcher; and WHEREAS, Each day, Brownsville residents rely on the skill, professionalism, and dedication of law enforcement officers, and through her commitment to protecting and serving the community, Officer Mata has earned the admiration and appreciation of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Edna-Mae Mata on joining the Brownsville Police Department and extend to her sincere best wishes for a successful and rewarding career in law enforcement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Officer Mata as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
