| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service has |

| 6 | 7 | | drawn to a close with the death of the Honorable Guadalupe Ayala of |

| 7 | 8 | | San Benito, who passed away on February 25, 2017, at the age of 55; |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The son of Francisco and Tomasa Ayala, Guadalupe |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Ayala was born in 1961 in San Benito, and he grew up with four |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | sisters, Micaela, Natividad, Senaida, and Petra, and six brothers, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Erasmo, Frank, David, Victor, Joe, and Mike; after graduating from |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Ayala subsequently returned to his hometown and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | began a career with the San Benito Police Department that spanned 23 |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | years; he worked as a dispatcher before graduating from the police |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | academy, and over the course of his distinguished tenure with the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | department, he was recognized by the FBI for arresting two suspects |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | on its most wanted list and was twice awarded the Medal of Valor for |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | lifesaving acts; he left the department in 2012 and was elected |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Cameron County justice of the peace for Precinct 3, Place 1, two |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | years later; sustained by a deep faith, he was also an associate |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | pastor at Faith Pleases God Church in Harlingen; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Ayala enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | and support of his wife of 33 years, Elisa, and he was the proud |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | father of three children, Vanessa Ayala, Guadalupe Ayala Jr., and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Cecilia Espinoza; he was later blessed with four grandchildren, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | David Moody and Ariana Joy, Alina Grace, and Kaylie Espinoza; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, his faith, and his |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | community, Guadalupe Ayala made a positive difference in the lives |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | of his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | will be fondly remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable |

| 35 | 36 | | Guadalupe Ayala and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his |

| 36 | 37 | | passing; and, be it further |
