45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service has
67 drawn to a close with the death of the Honorable Guadalupe Ayala of
78 San Benito, who passed away on February 25, 2017, at the age of 55;
89 and
910 WHEREAS, The son of Francisco and Tomasa Ayala, Guadalupe
1011 Ayala was born in 1961 in San Benito, and he grew up with four
1112 sisters, Micaela, Natividad, Senaida, and Petra, and six brothers,
1213 Erasmo, Frank, David, Victor, Joe, and Mike; after graduating from
1314 high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps; and
1415 WHEREAS, Mr. Ayala subsequently returned to his hometown and
1516 began a career with the San Benito Police Department that spanned 23
1617 years; he worked as a dispatcher before graduating from the police
1718 academy, and over the course of his distinguished tenure with the
1819 department, he was recognized by the FBI for arresting two suspects
1920 on its most wanted list and was twice awarded the Medal of Valor for
2021 lifesaving acts; he left the department in 2012 and was elected
2122 Cameron County justice of the peace for Precinct 3, Place 1, two
2223 years later; sustained by a deep faith, he was also an associate
2324 pastor at Faith Pleases God Church in Harlingen; and
2425 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Ayala enjoyed the love
2526 and support of his wife of 33 years, Elisa, and he was the proud
2627 father of three children, Vanessa Ayala, Guadalupe Ayala Jr., and
2728 Cecilia Espinoza; he was later blessed with four grandchildren,
2829 David Moody and Ariana Joy, Alina Grace, and Kaylie Espinoza; and
2930 WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, his faith, and his
3031 community, Guadalupe Ayala made a positive difference in the lives
3132 of his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions
3233 will be fondly remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable
3536 Guadalupe Ayala and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his
3637 passing; and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3940 Representatives adjourns on this day, it do so in memory of
4041 Guadalupe Ayala.
