| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For nearly a decade and a half, Carey Antwine has |

| 6 | 7 | | dedicated her time and talents to serving the residents of El Paso |

| 7 | 8 | | through an exemplary career in law and education; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of San Diego State University, Carey |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Antwine received her bachelor's degree in political science in 1999 |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and went on to earn a juris doctor degree from St. Mary's University |

| 11 | 12 | | School of Law; licensed to practice in 2003, she began her career |

| 12 | 13 | | with the El Paso District Attorney's Office, and during her tenure |

| 13 | 14 | | there, she was assigned to several county courts, to the intake |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | division, and to the family violence unit; she accepted a position |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | as a prosecutor in the juvenile unit of the El Paso County |

| 16 | 17 | | Attorney's Office in 2007, and in 2012, she opened her own practice; |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In 2013, Ms. Antwine was appointed as an associate |

| 19 | 20 | | municipal judge for the City of El Paso; that same year, she also |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | joined the faculty of the Libertas Academy at Americas High School, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | a program for students interested in pursuing careers in law, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | government, and public administration; soon named coordinator of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | the program, she managed the academy until 2016, when she returned |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | to the county attorney's office; today, in addition to carrying out |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | her responsibilities with that office, she remains involved in |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | educational projects at Libertas, and she also teaches criminal |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | justice courses at The University of Texas at El Paso; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Carey Antwine's commitment to the highest standards |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | of both the legal and the teaching professions has greatly |

| 30 | 31 | | benefited her fellow citizens and her many students, and she may |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | reflect with pride on her outstanding contributions to the El Paso |

| 32 | 33 | | community; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby commend Carey Antwine for her service to El Paso |
