45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, For nearly a decade and a half, Carey Antwine has
67 dedicated her time and talents to serving the residents of El Paso
78 through an exemplary career in law and education; and
89 WHEREAS, A graduate of San Diego State University, Carey
910 Antwine received her bachelor's degree in political science in 1999
1011 and went on to earn a juris doctor degree from St. Mary's University
1112 School of Law; licensed to practice in 2003, she began her career
1213 with the El Paso District Attorney's Office, and during her tenure
1314 there, she was assigned to several county courts, to the intake
1415 division, and to the family violence unit; she accepted a position
1516 as a prosecutor in the juvenile unit of the El Paso County
1617 Attorney's Office in 2007, and in 2012, she opened her own practice;
1718 and
1819 WHEREAS, In 2013, Ms. Antwine was appointed as an associate
1920 municipal judge for the City of El Paso; that same year, she also
2021 joined the faculty of the Libertas Academy at Americas High School,
2122 a program for students interested in pursuing careers in law,
2223 government, and public administration; soon named coordinator of
2324 the program, she managed the academy until 2016, when she returned
2425 to the county attorney's office; today, in addition to carrying out
2526 her responsibilities with that office, she remains involved in
2627 educational projects at Libertas, and she also teaches criminal
2728 justice courses at The University of Texas at El Paso; and
2829 WHEREAS, Carey Antwine's commitment to the highest standards
2930 of both the legal and the teaching professions has greatly
3031 benefited her fellow citizens and her many students, and she may
3132 reflect with pride on her outstanding contributions to the El Paso
3233 community; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby commend Carey Antwine for her service to El Paso
3536 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and
3637 success; and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for Ms. Antwine as an expression of high regard by the
3940 Texas House of Representatives.
