H.R. No. 1172 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For nearly a decade and a half, Carey Antwine has dedicated her time and talents to serving the residents of El Paso through an exemplary career in law and education; and WHEREAS, A graduate of San Diego State University, Carey Antwine received her bachelor's degree in political science in 1999 and went on to earn a juris doctor degree from St. Mary's University School of Law; licensed to practice in 2003, she began her career with the El Paso District Attorney's Office, and during her tenure there, she was assigned to several county courts, to the intake division, and to the family violence unit; she accepted a position as a prosecutor in the juvenile unit of the El Paso County Attorney's Office in 2007, and in 2012, she opened her own practice; and WHEREAS, In 2013, Ms. Antwine was appointed as an associate municipal judge for the City of El Paso; that same year, she also joined the faculty of the Libertas Academy at Americas High School, a program for students interested in pursuing careers in law, government, and public administration; soon named coordinator of the program, she managed the academy until 2016, when she returned to the county attorney's office; today, in addition to carrying out her responsibilities with that office, she remains involved in educational projects at Libertas, and she also teaches criminal justice courses at The University of Texas at El Paso; and WHEREAS, Carey Antwine's commitment to the highest standards of both the legal and the teaching professions has greatly benefited her fellow citizens and her many students, and she may reflect with pride on her outstanding contributions to the El Paso community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Carey Antwine for her service to El Paso and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Antwine as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
