45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Mia Paz of the Hanna Early College High School
67 girls' basketball team has been named the 2017 All-Metro Offensive
78 Player of the Year by the Brownsville Herald; and
89 WHEREAS, Currently a sophomore, Mia Paz led the Golden Eagles
910 during the 2016-2017 season by averaging 20.1 points per game,
1011 along with 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3 steals; her impressive
1112 achievements also earned her this season's District 32-6A Offensive
1213 Player of the Year honor, and as a freshman, she was selected as the
1314 Brownsville Herald's All-Metro Newcomer of the Year; and
1415 WHEREAS, Ms. Paz is renowned for her strong work ethic, and
1516 she made a special effort to improve her game by training in Dallas
1617 and San Antonio during the summer between her freshman and
1718 sophomore seasons; and
1819 WHEREAS, Through her talent, hard work, and commitment to
1920 excellence, Mia Paz has distinguished herself as an exceptional
2021 player who is poised for further glory in the years ahead, and she
2122 is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be
2223 it
2324 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2425 Legislature hereby congratulate Mia Paz on being named the 2017
2526 All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year by the Brownsville Herald
2627 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
2728 it further
2829 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2930 prepared for Ms. Paz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3031 House of Representatives.
