H.R. No. 1222 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Mia Paz of the Hanna Early College High School girls' basketball team has been named the 2017 All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year by the Brownsville Herald; and WHEREAS, Currently a sophomore, Mia Paz led the Golden Eagles during the 2016-2017 season by averaging 20.1 points per game, along with 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3 steals; her impressive achievements also earned her this season's District 32-6A Offensive Player of the Year honor, and as a freshman, she was selected as the Brownsville Herald's All-Metro Newcomer of the Year; and WHEREAS, Ms. Paz is renowned for her strong work ethic, and she made a special effort to improve her game by training in Dallas and San Antonio during the summer between her freshman and sophomore seasons; and WHEREAS, Through her talent, hard work, and commitment to excellence, Mia Paz has distinguished herself as an exceptional player who is poised for further glory in the years ahead, and she is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Mia Paz on being named the 2017 All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year by the Brownsville Herald and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Paz as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
