5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia Jr. was named justice of the |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A highly respected criminal defense attorney and |

9 | 10 | | mental health advocate, Mr. Garcia has served as a misdemeanor |
---|
10 | 11 | | prosecutor for several county courts and as a felony prosecutor for |

11 | 12 | | the 197th Judicial District Court; in addition, he worked with the |
---|
12 | 13 | | Cameron County District Attorney's Office for a number of years; |
---|

14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia is a graduate of San Benito High School, |
---|
15 | 16 | | and he holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a |
---|
16 | 17 | | doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Texas Southern University |

17 | 18 | | Thurgood Marshall School of Law; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the |

18 | 19 | | support of a loving family that includes his wife, Mayra, and his |
---|
19 | 20 | | three children, Angela, Jesus, and Julia; and |

20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Jesus Garcia's dedication and expertise have |

21 | 22 | | greatly benefited the residents of Cameron County over the years, |

22 | 23 | | and the experience he has acquired along the way will serve him well |

23 | 24 | | as he takes on his new duties; now, therefore, be it |

24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
