45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia Jr. was named justice of the
67 peace for Precinct 3, Place 1, in Cameron County on March 21, 2017;
78 and
89 WHEREAS, A highly respected criminal defense attorney and
910 mental health advocate, Mr. Garcia has served as a misdemeanor
1011 prosecutor for several county courts and as a felony prosecutor for
1112 the 197th Judicial District Court; in addition, he worked with the
1213 Cameron County District Attorney's Office for a number of years;
1314 and
1415 WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia is a graduate of San Benito High School,
1516 and he holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a
1617 doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Texas Southern University
1718 Thurgood Marshall School of Law; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the
1819 support of a loving family that includes his wife, Mayra, and his
1920 three children, Angela, Jesus, and Julia; and
2021 WHEREAS, Jesus Garcia's dedication and expertise have
2122 greatly benefited the residents of Cameron County over the years,
2223 and the experience he has acquired along the way will serve him well
2324 as he takes on his new duties; now, therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2526 Legislature hereby congratulate Jesus "Chuy" Garcia Jr. on his
2627 appointment as justice of the peace for Precinct 3, Place 1, in
2728 Cameron County and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
2829 and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3132 House of Representatives.
