 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia Jr. was named justice of the
 peace for Precinct 3, Place 1, in Cameron County on March 21, 2017;
 and
 WHEREAS, A highly respected criminal defense attorney and
 mental health advocate, Mr. Garcia has served as a misdemeanor
 prosecutor for several county courts and as a felony prosecutor for
 the 197th Judicial District Court; in addition, he worked with the
 Cameron County District Attorney's Office for a number of years;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia is a graduate of San Benito High School,
 and he holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a
 doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Texas Southern University
 Thurgood Marshall School of Law; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the
 support of a loving family that includes his wife, Mayra, and his
 three children, Angela, Jesus, and Julia; and
 WHEREAS, Jesus Garcia's dedication and expertise have
 greatly benefited the residents of Cameron County over the years,
 and the experience he has acquired along the way will serve him well
 as he takes on his new duties; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Jesus "Chuy" Garcia Jr. on his
 appointment as justice of the peace for Precinct 3, Place 1, in
 Cameron County and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
