| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Charles Anders, a science teacher at Robstown Early |

| 6 | 7 | | College High School, was named a finalist for the 2016-2017 |

| 7 | 8 | | Secondary Teacher of the Year award in the Robstown Independent |

| 8 | 9 | | School District; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |

| 10 | 11 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |

| 12 | 13 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A veteran educator of more than half a century, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | including eight years with Robstown ISD, Mr. Anders teaches classes |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | in chemistry, biology, anatomy/physiology, and integrated physics |

| 16 | 17 | | and chemistry; he played a key role in greatly increasing the |

| 17 | 18 | | percentage of RISD students who passed the TAKS science exam, and |

| 18 | 19 | | his students have selected him as an Educator Hero on three |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | occasions; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Charles Anders exemplifies the passion, |

| 21 | 22 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |

| 22 | 23 | | best teachers, and he has set a standard of excellence to which all |

| 23 | 24 | | in his profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Charles Anders on his selection as |

| 26 | 27 | | a finalist for the 2016-2017 Robstown ISD Secondary Teacher of the |

| 27 | 28 | | Year award and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
