H.R. No. 1310 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Charles Anders, a science teacher at Robstown Early College High School, was named a finalist for the 2016-2017 Secondary Teacher of the Year award in the Robstown Independent School District; and WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to become successful and productive adults, and those men and women who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and WHEREAS, A veteran educator of more than half a century, including eight years with Robstown ISD, Mr. Anders teaches classes in chemistry, biology, anatomy/physiology, and integrated physics and chemistry; he played a key role in greatly increasing the percentage of RISD students who passed the TAKS science exam, and his students have selected him as an Educator Hero on three occasions; and WHEREAS, Charles Anders exemplifies the passion, determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Charles Anders on his selection as a finalist for the 2016-2017 Robstown ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year award and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Anders as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
