| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Harvey David Hamm Sr. of Pittsburg, Texas, on March 24, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2017, at the age of 82; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Clarksville on October 19, 1934, Harvey Hamm |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | grew up with the companionship of six sisters; on August 15, 1954, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | he exchanged wedding vows with his high school sweetheart, the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | former Shirley Sloan, and the couple enjoyed a fairytale romance |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | that came to an end 62 years later, with Mrs. Hamm passing away just |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | weeks before her husband; over the course of their long and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | rewarding marriage, they were blessed with two children, Harvey and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Melinda, three grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, and Mitchell, and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | six great-grandchildren, Josie, Kenlie, Kennady, Kynslee, Noah, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and Keyton; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A natural salesman, Mr. Hamm began his career |

| 19 | 20 | | working in the service department at Lone Star Cadillac in Dallas, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | but his knack for helping customers soon led him into sales; he went |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | on to sell insurance and to become the owner of a gas station, a |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | retail shoe store, a restaurant, and a Chrysler Plymouth |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | dealership; he also helped found Mayben Realty and served the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | company as vice president and as a licensed Realtor; moreover, he |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | contributed to his professional community as a member of the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Titus-Camp-Morris-Upshur Board of Realtors, the Texas Association |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hamm was also a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | and a valued congregant of First United Methodist Church in |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Pittsburg; in his spare time, he enjoyed preparing elaborate meals |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | for his family and cooking at deer camps or men's prayer breakfasts, |

| 32 | 33 | | and at the age of 75, he became one of the first people to enroll in |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | the Northeast Texas Community College culinary arts program; and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Admired for his compassion and for his outgoing and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | cheerful nature, Harvey Hamm touched countless lives during his |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | journey on this earth, and all those who were fortunate enough to |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | know him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |

| 38 | 39 | | therefore, be it |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Harvey David Hamm |

| 41 | 42 | | Sr. and extend sincere condolences to his relatives and many |

| 42 | 43 | | friends; and, be it further |
