 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 passing of Harvey David Hamm Sr. of Pittsburg, Texas, on March 24,
 2017, at the age of 82; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Clarksville on October 19, 1934, Harvey Hamm
 grew up with the companionship of six sisters; on August 15, 1954,
 he exchanged wedding vows with his high school sweetheart, the
 former Shirley Sloan, and the couple enjoyed a fairytale romance
 that came to an end 62 years later, with Mrs. Hamm passing away just
 weeks before her husband; over the course of their long and
 rewarding marriage, they were blessed with two children, Harvey and
 Melinda, three grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, and Mitchell, and
 six great-grandchildren, Josie, Kenlie, Kennady, Kynslee, Noah,
 and Keyton; and
 WHEREAS, A natural salesman, Mr. Hamm began his career
 working in the service department at Lone Star Cadillac in Dallas,
 but his knack for helping customers soon led him into sales; he went
 on to sell insurance and to become the owner of a gas station, a
 retail shoe store, a restaurant, and a Chrysler Plymouth
 dealership; he also helped found Mayben Realty and served the
 company as vice president and as a licensed Realtor; moreover, he
 contributed to his professional community as a member of the
 Titus-Camp-Morris-Upshur Board of Realtors, the Texas Association
 of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Hamm was also a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason
 and a valued congregant of First United Methodist Church in
 Pittsburg; in his spare time, he enjoyed preparing elaborate meals
 for his family and cooking at deer camps or men's prayer breakfasts,
 and at the age of 75, he became one of the first people to enroll in
 the Northeast Texas Community College culinary arts program; and
 WHEREAS, Admired for his compassion and for his outgoing and
 cheerful nature, Harvey Hamm touched countless lives during his
 journey on this earth, and all those who were fortunate enough to
 know him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Harvey David Hamm
 Sr. and extend sincere condolences to his relatives and many
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harvey
 Hamm.
