| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Donald Joseph "DJ" Fortner of Boy Scouts of America |

| 6 | 7 | | Troop No. 448 in Austin has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and |

| 7 | 8 | | this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor |

| 9 | 10 | | bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting |

| 10 | 11 | | movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, |

| 11 | 12 | | Mr. Fortner earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully |

| 12 | 13 | | completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to James Bowie High |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | School; he planned and designed a 15-by-20-foot outdoor stage |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | suitable for use by the school's performing arts departments, and |

| 15 | 16 | | his Court of Honor ceremony was held there; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding |

| 17 | 18 | | leadership ability throughout his scouting career, winning the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | respect and admiration of his fellow troop members as he worked |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | toward the highest rank that the organization offers; he has served |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | as senior patrol leader of his troop and as chapter chief of the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Order of the Arrow; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A freshman at the University of Central Oklahoma, |

| 23 | 24 | | Mr. Fortner is majoring in musical theater and plans to pursue a |

| 24 | 25 | | career in that field; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Fortner's dedication to excellence and |

| 26 | 27 | | his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proved him worthy |

| 27 | 28 | | to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |

| 28 | 29 | | pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Donald Joseph Fortner on achieving |
