H.R. No. 1417
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Donald Joseph "DJ" Fortner of Boy Scouts of America
Troop No. 448 in Austin has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and
this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and
WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor
bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting
movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria,
Mr. Fortner earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully
completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to James Bowie High
School; he planned and designed a 15-by-20-foot outdoor stage
suitable for use by the school's performing arts departments, and
his Court of Honor ceremony was held there; and
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding
leadership ability throughout his scouting career, winning the
respect and admiration of his fellow troop members as he worked
toward the highest rank that the organization offers; he has served
as senior patrol leader of his troop and as chapter chief of the
Order of the Arrow; and
WHEREAS, A freshman at the University of Central Oklahoma,
Mr. Fortner is majoring in musical theater and plans to pursue a
career in that field; and
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Fortner's dedication to excellence and
his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proved him worthy
to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with
pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Donald Joseph Fortner on achieving
the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Fortner as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
