H.R. No. 1430 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Pamela Franklin and Hailey Cooper of Gainesville demonstrated great skill and composure in an emergency when they came to the aid of a man suffering a heart attack on June 12, 2015; and WHEREAS, Employed as clerks at a service station off Highway 82 in Gainesville on that fateful day, Ms. Franklin and Ms. Cooper heard shouts for help and hurried outside the store, where they found a 50-year-old man who had fallen unconscious and stopped breathing; and WHEREAS, The two women, who are both CPR certified, immediately began performing chest compressions and rescue breathing on the stricken man, and after reviving him, they continued to attend to him until paramedics arrived; the incident, which was later determined to be a severe heart attack, left the man in a coma for more than a week; thanks to the women's quick and effective response, the Sanger resident eventually began to recuperate and regain his strength; and WHEREAS, In the midst of a crisis, Pamela Franklin and Hailey Cooper remained calm and took decisive action to save the life of a fellow Texan, and it is indeed appropriate that they be honored for their exemplary actions; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Pamela Franklin and Hailey Cooper for their heroism in providing critical assistance to a man in need and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Franklin and Ms. Cooper as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
