| 8 | 9 | | Fame on May 21, 2016; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Jacksonville High School, Lonnie |

| 10 | 11 | | Gaylor attended Jacksonville College, where he was a member of the |

| 11 | 12 | | school's basketball squad, and he later earned bachelor's and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | master's degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University; he began |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | his career as a basketball coach in 1972 at Nacogdoches High School |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and enjoyed a successful stint at Marlin High before beginning a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 16-year tenure at Graham High School; there, his teams twice went |

| 16 | 17 | | undefeated during the regular season, and in 1996, Graham advanced |

| 17 | 18 | | all the way to the University Interscholastic League Class 3A state |

| 18 | 19 | | championship game; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Coach Gaylor took the reins at Waxahachie High |

| 20 | 21 | | School in 1997, and during his 11 seasons as head coach of the |

| 21 | 22 | | Indians, he guided his teams to 8 postseason appearances and 2 trips |

| 22 | 23 | | to the regional round of the UIL playoffs; he retired in 2008, |

| 23 | 24 | | leaving the coaching ranks after 36 years with an impressive total |

| 24 | 25 | | of 706 wins and numerous Coach of the Year accolades; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Widely respected by his peers, Coach Gaylor has |

| 26 | 27 | | contributed to his profession through his service as a board |

| 27 | 28 | | member, board secretary, and president of the Texas Association of |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Basketball Coaches; moreover, he has regularly shared his talents |

| 29 | 30 | | at TABC clinics and was a coach for the 1996 TABC All-Star Game; in |

| 30 | 31 | | all his endeavors, he has been blessed with the love and support of |

| 31 | 32 | | his wife, Myra, and his children, Allyson and Brent, and he takes |

| 32 | 33 | | great pride in his grandchildren, Hanna, Court, and Sydni; and |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, With his exceptional ability to teach and motivate, |

| 34 | 35 | | Lonnie Gaylor has made a positive difference in the lives of |

| 35 | 36 | | thousands of young athletes, and he has earned a place among the |

| 36 | 37 | | legendary basketball coaches of the Lone Star State; now, |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Lonnie Gaylor on his induction into |
