 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Former Waxahachie High School boys' basketball
 coach Lonnie Gaylor received well-deserved recognition with his
 induction into the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Hall of
 Fame on May 21, 2016; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of Jacksonville High School, Lonnie
 Gaylor attended Jacksonville College, where he was a member of the
 school's basketball squad, and he later earned bachelor's and
 master's degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University; he began
 his career as a basketball coach in 1972 at Nacogdoches High School
 and enjoyed a successful stint at Marlin High before beginning a
 16-year tenure at Graham High School; there, his teams twice went
 undefeated during the regular season, and in 1996, Graham advanced
 all the way to the University Interscholastic League Class 3A state
 championship game; and
 WHEREAS, Coach Gaylor took the reins at Waxahachie High
 School in 1997, and during his 11 seasons as head coach of the
 Indians, he guided his teams to 8 postseason appearances and 2 trips
 to the regional round of the UIL playoffs; he retired in 2008,
 leaving the coaching ranks after 36 years with an impressive total
 of 706 wins and numerous Coach of the Year accolades; and
 WHEREAS, Widely respected by his peers, Coach Gaylor has
 contributed to his profession through his service as a board
 member, board secretary, and president of the Texas Association of
 Basketball Coaches; moreover, he has regularly shared his talents
 at TABC clinics and was a coach for the 1996 TABC All-Star Game; in
 all his endeavors, he has been blessed with the love and support of
 his wife, Myra, and his children, Allyson and Brent, and he takes
 great pride in his grandchildren, Hanna, Court, and Sydni; and
 WHEREAS, With his exceptional ability to teach and motivate,
 Lonnie Gaylor has made a positive difference in the lives of
 thousands of young athletes, and he has earned a place among the
 legendary basketball coaches of the Lone Star State; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Lonnie Gaylor on his induction into
 the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame as a member
 of the Class of 2016 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
 future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Gaylor as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
