| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A 75th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 6 | 7 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Sterman and Virgie |

| 7 | 8 | | Young of Post celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on |

| 8 | 9 | | July 3, 2016; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Living on neighboring farms in Jack County, Sterman |

| 10 | 11 | | Young and the former Virgie Potts eloped and were united in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | matrimony in Walters, Oklahoma, in 1941; the couple have been |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | blessed with three beloved children, Ginny Bolin and her husband, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Sam, Gary Young and his wife, Peggy, and Nina Daniel and her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | husband, Pete, and today, they take great pride in their |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | granddaughters, Betsey and Tracy, and their great-granddaughters, |

| 16 | 17 | | Amanda and Ashley; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Though they made their home in California and in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | other Texas towns at the beginning of their marriage, Mr. and |

| 19 | 20 | | Mrs. Young settled down in Post in 1947 and have remained there ever |

| 20 | 21 | | since; Mr. Young is a veteran of World War II and has enjoyed a |

| 21 | 22 | | successful career in the Texas oilfields, becoming a production |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | foreman for Grisham-Hunter in 1948; after leaving the company as |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | district superintendent 35 years later, he spent some time |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | consulting for Fina before retiring for good; Mrs. Young has worked |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | at the Postex Cotton Mill and as a bookkeeper for several different |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | businesses; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The life that Mr. and Mrs. Young built together has |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | been further enriched by their many travels in their Airstream |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | trailer to visit friends; in addition, Mr. Young takes pleasure in |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | fishing and woodworking, and Mrs. Young counts crocheting, sewing, |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | quilting, and ceramics among her favorite hobbies; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past 75 |

| 33 | 34 | | years, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | their commitment to each other, and the strength of their love has |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace |

| 36 | 37 | | and optimism; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Sterman and Virgie Young on their |

| 39 | 40 | | 75th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
