 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by
 the loved ones of John Leonard Callan of Jacksboro, a remarkable
 young man whose life was cut tragically short on November 26, 2016,
 at the age of 17; and
 WHEREAS, Born on February 2, 1999, in Fort Worth, Johnny
 Callan was the son of Kerri LeDoux and Joe Callan and the brother of
 Grant, Beau, and Alexis; he was a senior at Jacksboro High School,
 where he served his peers as president of the FFA program and as
 Area IV FFA president; he frequently showcased his talents in FFA
 competitions, contributing to the National Champion Team in the
 range evaluation event and placing in various other state FFA
 contests; named a Ford Leadership Scholar at the state level, he
 attended the National FFA Convention and numerous state conventions
 as a voting delegate and won championship titles at livestock
 market goat shows across Texas; and
 WHEREAS, A gifted and hardworking student, Mr. Callan was
 poised to graduate as valedictorian of the Class of 2017 at his
 school; he served as president of the student council, and he also
 found time to participate in a host of other extracurricular
 groups, including the Beta Club, the National Honor Society, 4-H,
 and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; dedicated to giving back
 to his community as well, he designed, raised funds, and personally
 met with city officials to facilitate the construction of a public
 lake dock, and he helped plan "Operation Restoration," a campaign
 to clean up houses for those who lacked the means to do so; fueled by
 tremendous passion and drive in everything he did, he was also kind
 and caring to everyone, and he even volunteered some of his spare
 time, free of charge, to fellow students in need of tutoring; and
 WHEREAS, Although it is immeasurably painful to say goodbye
 to one so young and full of promise, Johnny Callan leaves behind
 countless people who admired and cherished him, and they will
 forever remember the joy and inspiration that he brought into their
 lives; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of John Leonard Callan
 and extend heartfelt condolences to all those who mourn his
 passing; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John
 Leonard Callan.
