H.R. No. 1484
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Irma Alonzo has been named the 2016-2017 Teacher of
the Year at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Kennedy Elementary faculty for the
past decade, Ms. Alonzo taught pre-K and kindergarten classes
before becoming a first grade teacher in 2013; she is an alumna of
Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, where she completed a
bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2007; and
WHEREAS, Irma Alonzo exemplifies the passion, determination,
and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers,
and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her
profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Irma Alonzo on her selection as the
2016-2017 Teacher of the Year at John F. Kennedy Elementary School
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her
important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Alonzo as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
