| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by Prudential Financial and the National |

| 10 | 11 | | Association of Secondary School Principals, the Spirit of Community |

| 11 | 12 | | Awards honor young people in middle school and high school who |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to serving their |

| 13 | 14 | | communities; this year, more than 31,000 teens from across the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | nation participated in the program; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A senior at MacArthur High School, Mr. Hernandez has |

| 16 | 17 | | made an outstanding effort to address poverty in his community; in |

| 17 | 18 | | 2014, he worked with his parents, local businesses, and his pastor |

| 18 | 19 | | and youth group to establish Project Sheltering Jesus, which has |

| 19 | 20 | | since provided over 100 homeless individuals with food and vital |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | support services; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The strength and vitality of the State of Texas |

| 22 | 23 | | depend, in great measure, on the initiative of young people such as |

| 23 | 24 | | Henry Hernandez, who use their considerable talents and resources |

| 24 | 25 | | to serve others; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Henry Hernandez on his selection as |
