H.R. No. 1895
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Svaksha Iyengar, a senior at Prosper High School,
has been named a finalist for a National Merit Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship
Program honors less than one percent of all high school seniors each
year, based on their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic
Assessment Test; the designation represents an opportunity for
young men and women to compete for scholarship awards and win entry
into some of the country's best schools; and
WHEREAS, One of only three students at Prosper High School to
be chosen as a National Merit Scholar finalist this year, Svaksha
Iyengar has demonstrated exceptional scholastic aptitude,
initiative, and leadership, all of which will undoubtedly benefit
her in the future; and
WHEREAS, This scholastic achievement places Ms. Iyengar at
the forefront of academic excellence in the nation, and she is a
source of great pride for her family and her school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Svaksha Iyengar on her selection as
a National Merit Scholarship finalist and extend to her sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Iyengar as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
