45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Emily Lopez has been presented with a Community
67 Service Award from the TRIO Islanders Organization at Texas A&M
78 University--Corpus Christi; and
89 WHEREAS, The TRIO Islanders Organization is part of the
910 university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS)
1011 initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing
1112 resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented
1213 students; in receiving a Community Service Award, Ms. Lopez was
1314 recognized for participating in a number of local service projects
1415 coordinated by TRIO Islanders; and
1516 WHEREAS, A sophomore at TAMU--CC, Ms. Lopez is working toward
1617 a degree in criminal justice with a minor in prelaw; after
1718 graduating, she plans to continue her study of law in order to
1819 pursue a career as an immigration attorney and to someday provide
1920 low-cost legal services to the residents of her hometown of
2021 Brownsville; and
2122 WHEREAS, Emily Lopez is indeed deserving of this prestigious
2223 honor, and she may look forward to a future bright with promise;
2324 now, therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2526 Legislature hereby congratulate Emily Lopez on her receipt of a
2627 TRIO Islanders Organization Community Service Award and extend to
2728 her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
2829 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2930 prepared for Ms. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3031 House of Representatives.
