H.R. No. 1990 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Melissa Zamora has been presented with an Outstanding Award from the Student Support Services--STEM program at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, The SSS-STEM program is part of the university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students; in receiving an Outstanding Award, Ms. Zamora was recognized for high academic achievement; and WHEREAS, Having previously earned an associate degree in biology from Del Mar College, Ms. Zamora is currently pursuing a degree in environmental science with a minor in biology as a senior at TAMU--CC; during her time at TAMU--CC, she has distinguished herself through her leadership as president of the Islander Green Team and as facilitator of the university's first composting program; after graduating, she hopes to work as an educator in the environmental sciences with a focus on wildlife conservation and habitat remediation; and WHEREAS, Melissa Zamora is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor, and she may look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Melissa Zamora on her receipt of a Student Support Services--STEM Outstanding Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Zamora as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
