5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Nannette Underwood of Fort Worth is retiring from |

6 | 7 | | Rosemont Middle School on June 3, 2017, drawing to a close a notable |

7 | 8 | | career in education that has spanned 22 years; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Currently a seventh- and eighth-grade U.S. history |

9 | 10 | | teacher, Ms. Underwood first joined the Rosemont faculty in 1996, |

10 | 11 | | when she accepted a position with the special education department; |
---|
11 | 12 | | in her 21 years at the school, she has coached the girls' basketball |
---|
12 | 13 | | team and sponsored the cheerleading team, the yearbook staff, the |
---|
13 | 14 | | Chess Club, and the Whiz Quiz team; in addition, she helped organize |
---|
14 | 15 | | and supervise a spring break trip to Washington, D.C., |
---|
15 | 16 | | Philadelphia, New York City, and Gettysburg for 40 students in |
---|
16 | 17 | | 2004; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of her many contributions, |

18 | 19 | | Ms. Underwood was named the Rosemont Teacher of the Year in 2005; |

19 | 20 | | she has also received a number of grants to pursue professional |

20 | 21 | | development opportunities in various locations around the country; |
---|
21 | 22 | | and |

22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Nannette Underwood has worked to instill in her |

23 | 24 | | students a lifelong love of learning, and she may indeed reflect |

24 | 25 | | with pride on a career well spent as she embarks on the next |

25 | 26 | | exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |

26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Nannette Underwood on the occasion |

28 | 29 | | of her retirement from Rosemont Middle School and extend to her |

29 | 30 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
