H.R. No. 2047 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Nannette Underwood of Fort Worth is retiring from Rosemont Middle School on June 3, 2017, drawing to a close a notable career in education that has spanned 22 years; and WHEREAS, Currently a seventh- and eighth-grade U.S. history teacher, Ms. Underwood first joined the Rosemont faculty in 1996, when she accepted a position with the special education department; in her 21 years at the school, she has coached the girls' basketball team and sponsored the cheerleading team, the yearbook staff, the Chess Club, and the Whiz Quiz team; in addition, she helped organize and supervise a spring break trip to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, and Gettysburg for 40 students in 2004; and WHEREAS, In recognition of her many contributions, Ms. Underwood was named the Rosemont Teacher of the Year in 2005; she has also received a number of grants to pursue professional development opportunities in various locations around the country; and WHEREAS, Nannette Underwood has worked to instill in her students a lifelong love of learning, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Nannette Underwood on the occasion of her retirement from Rosemont Middle School and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Underwood as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
