| 10 | 11 | | initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing |

| 11 | 12 | | resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented |

| 12 | 13 | | students; in receiving a Rising Star Award, William was recognized |

| 13 | 14 | | for his academic achievements and community involvement; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A high-achieving third grader, William was born in |

| 15 | 16 | | San Diego, California, but grew up primarily in Yokosuka, Japan, |

| 16 | 17 | | where he was introduced to cultural diversity at a young age; the |

| 17 | 18 | | son of navy veteran William A. Scanlon and Marisa Bel Scanlon, he |

| 18 | 19 | | enjoys reading books, listening to music, singing, dancing, and |

| 19 | 20 | | practicing his Japanese; he plans to study engineering and robotics |

| 20 | 21 | | in college in pursuit of his dreams of doing great things to help |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, William Andrew Scanlon II is indeed deserving of |
