H.R. No. 2066 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Orquidia Medina has been presented with an Outstanding Award from the Student Support Services--STEM program at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, SSS-STEM is part of the university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students; in receiving an Outstanding Award, Ms. Medina was recognized for her academic achievements as a student majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field of study; and WHEREAS, An Austin native, Ms. Medina is a junior at TAMU--CC, where she is pursuing a degree in biomedical science with a view to becoming a veterinarian; she serves as the historian of the Golden Key International Honour Society and as a representative to the University Council of Student Organizations; and WHEREAS, Orquidia Medina is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor, and she may look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Orquidia Medina on her receipt of a Student Support Services--STEM Outstanding Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Medina as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
