H.R. No. 2075
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Laura Sylvia Cardenas has been presented with
Superstar and Outstanding Awards from the Student Support Services
Teacher Prep program at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, SSS Teacher Prep is part of the university's
Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) initiative, which
furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing resources to
low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students; in
receiving the Superstar Award, Ms. Cardenas was recognized for
helping her fellow students, demonstrating exceptional leadership
qualities, and participating in a variety of campus activities, and
she was honored with the Outstanding Award for her record of
academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, A senior at TAMU--CC, Ms. Cardenas is working toward
a degree in interdisciplinary studies; she has distinguished
herself on campus as an officer in the Student Reading Council and
as a leader in the SSS Teacher Prep program; after graduation, she
plans to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher; and
WHEREAS, Laura Cardenas is indeed deserving of special
recognition, and she may look forward to a future bright with
promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Laura Sylvia Cardenas on her
receipt of the Student Support Services Teacher Prep program
Superstar and Outstanding Awards and extend to her sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Cardenas as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
