| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, At a ceremony held on May 3, 2017, Port of |

| 8 | 9 | | recipient of the Fire Chief Life Saving Award from the Brownsville |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, On September 14, 2016, Officer Ramirez arrived on |

| 11 | 12 | | the scene of a roadside accident; a man who had been helping his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | daughter with her stalled vehicle was struck by another vehicle and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | severely injured; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A six-year veteran of the Port of Brownsville, |

| 15 | 16 | | Officer Ramirez acted with skill and dispatch, applying a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | tourniquet to the man's wound and stopping his bleeding; this quick |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and effective response saved the man's life; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, By demonstrating grace under pressure and calmly |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | implementing the techniques he had acquired in his training, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Officer Ramirez prevented a terrible tragedy, and in so doing, he |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | has earned the heartfelt admiration of his community; now, |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
