H.R. No. 2084
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, At a ceremony held on May 3, 2017, Port of
Brownsville Police Officer Jose Luis Ramirez earned great
distinction for himself and his department by becoming the first
recipient of the Fire Chief Life Saving Award from the Brownsville
Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, On September 14, 2016, Officer Ramirez arrived on
the scene of a roadside accident; a man who had been helping his
daughter with her stalled vehicle was struck by another vehicle and
severely injured; and
WHEREAS, A six-year veteran of the Port of Brownsville,
Officer Ramirez acted with skill and dispatch, applying a
tourniquet to the man's wound and stopping his bleeding; this quick
and effective response saved the man's life; and
WHEREAS, By demonstrating grace under pressure and calmly
implementing the techniques he had acquired in his training,
Officer Ramirez prevented a terrible tragedy, and in so doing, he
has earned the heartfelt admiration of his community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Officer Jose Luis Ramirez on his
receipt of the Fire Chief Life Saving Award and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Officer Ramirez as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
