45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, First responders from Childress County gathered at
67 Fair Park for the unveiling of a granite bench dedicated in their
78 honor on May 1, 2017; and
89 WHEREAS, The bench is the result of a Family, Career and
910 Community Leaders of America project designed and carried out by
1011 Childress High School student Nick Garcia; inspired by his
1112 paramedic father, Gerardo Garcia, Mr. Garcia began working on the
1213 project in December 2016; he collaborated with the Childress Lions
1314 Club, the Childress Chamber of Commerce, and a number of other civic
1415 groups to collect the funds needed to build the bench, which bears
1516 the inscription "Dedicated to Those Who Serve and Protect"; and
1617 WHEREAS, Every day, the first responders of Texas put their
1718 lives on the line to help individuals in desperate circumstances,
1819 and Nick Garcia has created a fitting tribute to the courage and
1920 valor of these heroic public servants; now, therefore, be it
2021 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2122 Legislature hereby commend Nick Garcia for recognizing first
2223 responders with a commemorative bench in Fair Park and extend to him
2324 sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors;
2425 and, be it further
2526 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2627 prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2728 House of Representatives.
