H.R. No. 2106 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, First responders from Childress County gathered at Fair Park for the unveiling of a granite bench dedicated in their honor on May 1, 2017; and WHEREAS, The bench is the result of a Family, Career and Community Leaders of America project designed and carried out by Childress High School student Nick Garcia; inspired by his paramedic father, Gerardo Garcia, Mr. Garcia began working on the project in December 2016; he collaborated with the Childress Lions Club, the Childress Chamber of Commerce, and a number of other civic groups to collect the funds needed to build the bench, which bears the inscription "Dedicated to Those Who Serve and Protect"; and WHEREAS, Every day, the first responders of Texas put their lives on the line to help individuals in desperate circumstances, and Nick Garcia has created a fitting tribute to the courage and valor of these heroic public servants; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Nick Garcia for recognizing first responders with a commemorative bench in Fair Park and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
