H.R. No. 2230
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Savannah Cushman of Sea Scout Ship 208, SSS Red
Skies, in Baytown has been appointed as the 2017-2018 regional
boatswain for the Boy Scouts of America Sea Scouts Southern Region;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Cushman will take office on June 1, 2017,
bringing with her knowledge and skills gained during her time as a
ship boatswain; she is a certified lifeguard and SCUBA diver, and
she has also completed Sea Scout Experience Advanced Leadership
Training and National Youth Leadership Training programs; and
WHEREAS, Along with achieving distinction in the Sea Scouts,
Ms. Cushman has excelled as a participant in the STEM Academy at
Robert E. Lee High School, where she was recently recognized as the
STEM Student of the Month; a member of the National Honor Society,
she is also a skilled oboist, and she has competed with the varsity
tennis and junior varsity volleyball teams; in addition, she is a
valued member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her scouting career, Savannah Cushman
has upheld the highest standards of the Sea Scouts, and she may
indeed reflect with pride on her notable achievements as she takes
on her new role as regional boatswain; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Savannah Cushman on her
appointment as regional boatswain for the Sea Scouts Southern
Region and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Cushman as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
