| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jonathan Millington of Waco has been named a |

| 6 | 7 | | National Merit Commended Student; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship |

| 8 | 9 | | Program recognizes high school students throughout the country for |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | their academic excellence; commended students are chosen on the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | basis of their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Qualifying Test scores, with honorees placing among the top five |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | percent of the approximately 1.6 million individuals who take the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | examination each year; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A senior at Rapoport Academy, Mr. Millington is a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | member of the National Honor Society and a mentor for fifth-grade |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | students through the Peer Assistance and Leadership program; he has |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | received numerous accolades for his scholastic achievements, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | including an invitation to the Distinguished Scholars Day at Baylor |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | University, medals for his performance on the ACT, and recognition |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | as a Duke University Talent Identification Program scholar; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Millington will graduate in May 2017 with both |

| 22 | 23 | | his high school diploma and an associate of science degree from |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | McLennan Community College; following commencement, he plans to |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | double major in mathematics and linguistics in college and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | eventually pursue a career as a university professor; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The son of James and Kim Millington, Jonathan |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Millington has demonstrated exceptional initiative and maturity in |

| 28 | 29 | | working toward his goals, and he may indeed reflect with pride on |

| 29 | 30 | | all he has accomplished as he looks forward to a future bright with |

| 30 | 31 | | promise; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
