5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the |

6 | 7 | | passing of Barbara Dunn Kuhl of Houston on December 14, 2016, at the |

7 | 8 | | age of 94; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of John and Helen Dunn, the former |
---|
9 | 10 | | Barbara Dunn was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 26, 1922; |
---|
10 | 11 | | she grew up as the adored baby sister in a family of six children, |
---|
11 | 12 | | and she enjoyed frequent trips to New York for plays, films, and |
---|
12 | 13 | | other cultural events; coming of age during World War II, she did |
---|
13 | 14 | | her part for the nation by working for the War Production Board |
---|
14 | 15 | | while completing her education at Fisher College; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In 1950, she married the love of her life, Philip |
---|
16 | 17 | | Kuhl, a U.S. Air Force officer; his assignment to the Pentagon took |
---|
17 | 18 | | them to Washington, D.C., and while living there, they became the |
---|
18 | 19 | | parents of two children, John and Pam; the family traveled |
---|
19 | 20 | | extensively during Colonel Kuhl's career, living in numerous |
---|
20 | 21 | | countries in the Far East, and Mrs. Kuhl's grace and social skills |
---|
21 | 22 | | were of great benefit as she supported her husband in his |
---|
22 | 23 | | responsibilities; following his retirement, they settled in Fort |
---|
23 | 24 | | Worth and embarked on careers in real estate; Mrs. Kuhl quickly |
---|
24 | 25 | | distinguished herself as one of the city's top brokers; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Kuhl was dedicated to her family above all |
---|
26 | 27 | | else, and following her husband's death in 2010, she moved to |
---|
27 | 28 | | Houston to be closer to her children; ever cheerful and vibrant, she |
---|
28 | 29 | | continued to make many new friends, and her elegance and style added |
---|
29 | 30 | | extra flair to gatherings at the Four Leaf Towers residential |
---|
30 | 31 | | complex where she lived; she was a devout Catholic and a source of |
---|
31 | 32 | | wisdom and inspiration to those in her circle; and |
---|
32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Although Barbara Kuhl will be deeply missed, those |
---|
33 | 34 | | who were privileged to share in her love and friendship will forever |
---|
34 | 35 | | remember the joy and kindness she brought into their lives; now, |
---|
35 | 36 | | therefore, be it |

36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara Dunn Kuhl |
