 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
 cause for celebration, and Frankie Allen Smith marked this
 significant milestone in her life on January 31, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, Born in 1917, Frankie Smith raised her family in the
 Acres Homes neighborhood, where she continues to reside; a
 matriarch beloved by many, she is affectionately known as "MoMa
 Dear"; and
 WHEREAS, The founder of Frankie's Fashions, Mrs. Smith has
 enjoyed a many-faceted career that has also encompassed endeavors
 with such firms as Je La Beaux Talent Agency, Texas Arts and
 Entertainment, Total Health Care, Down Home Tour, GrapeVine Media
 and Publishing, Vel-Rays Properties, and the Smith-Whigham
 Foundation; she takes particular pride in her employment with the
 family of former state representative Sylvester Turner, now mayor
 of Houston; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Mrs. Smith has
 been engaged in civic life, education advocacy, and charitable
 causes; she has served as honorary chair for Living Word
 Ministries, and she is considered the mother of her church, where
 she is very active; and
 WHEREAS, Frankie Smith is blessed with the affection of a
 host of loved ones, and, sustained by her strong faith, she has
 gracefully reached the century mark and continues to enrich the
 lives of all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Frankie Allen Smith on her 100th
 birthday; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
