| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Homero Hernandez of Boy Scouts of America Troop |

| 6 | 7 | | No. 84 in Mission has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor |

| 9 | 10 | | bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting |

| 10 | 11 | | movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, |

| 11 | 12 | | Mr. Hernandez earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully |

| 12 | 13 | | completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community, which |

| 13 | 14 | | involved replacing invasive plants with native trees and shrubs at |

| 14 | 15 | | the McAllen Nature Center; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jesus Gustavo and Dalia R. Perez, this |

| 16 | 17 | | fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |

| 17 | 18 | | throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration |

| 18 | 19 | | of his fellow troop members as he worked toward the highest rank |

| 19 | 20 | | that the organization offers; a member of the Order of the Arrow, he |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | has served his troop as assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, |

| 21 | 22 | | assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, OA troop |

| 22 | 23 | | representative, and junior assistant scoutmaster; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez is a junior at Veterans Memorial High |

| 24 | 25 | | School, where he plays tuba in the marching band; possessed of a |

| 25 | 26 | | generous spirit, he has given freely of his time and energy during |

| 26 | 27 | | food drives and beautification projects, and he has served as a |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | volunteer with vacation Bible school, area animal shelters, and the |
|---|

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Hernandez's dedication to excellence |

| 30 | 31 | | and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him |

| 31 | 32 | | worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect |

| 32 | 33 | | with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Homero Hernandez on achieving the |
