H.R. No. 240 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Homero Hernandez of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 84 in Mission has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Hernandez earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community, which involved replacing invasive plants with native trees and shrubs at the McAllen Nature Center; and WHEREAS, The son of Jesus Gustavo and Dalia R. Perez, this fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of his fellow troop members as he worked toward the highest rank that the organization offers; a member of the Order of the Arrow, he has served his troop as assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, OA troop representative, and junior assistant scoutmaster; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez is a junior at Veterans Memorial High School, where he plays tuba in the marching band; possessed of a generous spirit, he has given freely of his time and energy during food drives and beautification projects, and he has served as a volunteer with vacation Bible school, area animal shelters, and the local library; and WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Hernandez's dedication to excellence and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Homero Hernandez on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
