| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Derek V. Baker of McKinney, a prominent member of |

| 6 | 7 | | the Collin County Conservative Republicans, has set an inspiring |

| 7 | 8 | | example of civic engagement through his longtime leadership and |

| 8 | 9 | | involvement in grassroots politics; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, An activist for conservative political causes for |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | many years, Mr. Baker has twice been elected president of the CCCR |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | and until recently served as the organization's finance chair; |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | outside of the State of Texas, he has worked in Congress for a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | number of members of the United States Senate and House of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Representatives, and he served the U.S. House Republican Study |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Committee as a senior policy analyst; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Baker grew up in Sherman as an eighth-generation |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Texan and went on to receive his bachelor's degree in political |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | science, business, and religion from Liberty University; before |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | returning to his home state, he served as the director of federal |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | affairs for Americans for Limited Government; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Today, in addition to continuing to play a vital |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | role in the political arena, he also enjoys a successful career as a |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | licensed Realtor with Keller Williams in McKinney, and he currently |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | volunteers his time as a McKinney precinct chair and as a member of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the Collin County Child Protective Services Board, the board of the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Collin County Foster Friends, a charity that provides assistance to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | local foster children and their families, and the Government |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Affairs Committee of the Collin County Association of Realtors; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Baker is blessed with the |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | love and support of a fine family that includes his wife of 16 |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | years, Melissa, and their three children, Reagan, Austin, and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Lincoln; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Derek Baker's skill, vision, and dedication have |

| 34 | 35 | | contributed greatly to the advancement of conservative ideals in |

| 35 | 36 | | his state and community, and he has earned the respect and |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | admiration of countless colleagues and fellow Texans; now, |
