H.R. No. 256 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dexter K. Sagebiel retired as Llano County Tax Assessor-Collector on December 31, 2016, drawing to a close an outstanding career in public service; and WHEREAS, Born in San Francisco in 1944, Mr. Sagebiel grew up in Fredericksburg and Llano; the son of a rancher, he was active in 4-H and FFA during his years at Llano High School, and after graduating in 1963, he studied animal science at Tarleton College and Texas A&M University, where he was president and treasurer of the Saddle and Sirloin Club, a member of Gamma Sigma Delta, and a national champion in wool judging; he earned his bachelor's degree with honors in 1967; and WHEREAS, From 1967 to 1970, Mr. Sagebiel was the assistant extension agent in Taylor County for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and he went on to serve as the county extension agent in Blanco County from 1970 until his retirement from the service in 1985; he subsequently returned to Llano, where he helped on the family ranch and worked for the Llano Livestock Auction and the Llano Central Appraisal District; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sagebiel became the Llano County Tax Assessor-Collector in 2001, and over the next decade and a half, his skilled management of his office earned him the respect and appreciation of fellow citizens and county officials alike; and WHEREAS, With the passing years, Dexter Sagebiel and his wife, Jennabeth, have seen their fine family grow to include two daughters and their spouses, Trudy and Steven Vollmar and Terri and Jamey Vogel, as well as three grandchildren and a great-grandson; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sagebiel's commitment to the highest ideals of public service has greatly benefited the people of Llano County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks upon the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dexter K. Sagebiel on his retirement as Llano County Tax Assessor-Collector and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Sagebiel as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
