| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Former state representative Bill G. Carter is |

| 6 | 7 | | celebrating his 65th anniversary with State Farm Insurance, and |

| 7 | 8 | | this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize him for |

| 8 | 9 | | his outstanding record of achievement; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Carter began |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | his exemplary tenure with State Farm in October 1951, when he |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | accepted a managerial position in Panhandle; four years later, he |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | moved to Haltom City and opened his own State Farm office, which is |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | still in operation today; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 1984, Mr. Carter was elected as state |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | representative for Texas House District 91; over the course of a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | legislative tenure that spanned nearly two decades, he served as |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | chair of the Urban Affairs and Public Safety Committees; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has further given back to his |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | community as a lifetime member and chair of the Northeast Tarrant |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Chamber of Commerce and as president of the North Texas Vocational |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Education Program; he is also a longtime member of the Fort Worth |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Lions Club and Toastmasters; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Carter is blessed with a fine family that |

| 24 | 25 | | includes his 4 children, Greg, Nancy, Linda, and Janet, and 2 |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | stepsons, Carr and Kenton, as well as 15 grandchildren and 8 |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | great-grandchildren; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |

| 28 | 29 | | commitment to excellence, Bill Carter has earned the lasting |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | respect of his colleagues and customers alike, and he is indeed |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | deserving of special recognition on this important milestone in his |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | career; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby commend Bill G. Carter for his 65 years of |
