H.R. No. 2588 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Former state representative Bill G. Carter is celebrating his 65th anniversary with State Farm Insurance, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize him for his outstanding record of achievement; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Carter began his exemplary tenure with State Farm in October 1951, when he accepted a managerial position in Panhandle; four years later, he moved to Haltom City and opened his own State Farm office, which is still in operation today; and WHEREAS, In 1984, Mr. Carter was elected as state representative for Texas House District 91; over the course of a legislative tenure that spanned nearly two decades, he served as chair of the Urban Affairs and Public Safety Committees; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has further given back to his community as a lifetime member and chair of the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce and as president of the North Texas Vocational Education Program; he is also a longtime member of the Fort Worth Lions Club and Toastmasters; and WHEREAS, Mr. Carter is blessed with a fine family that includes his 4 children, Greg, Nancy, Linda, and Janet, and 2 stepsons, Carr and Kenton, as well as 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, Bill Carter has earned the lasting respect of his colleagues and customers alike, and he is indeed deserving of special recognition on this important milestone in his career; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Bill G. Carter for his 65 years of service to State Farm Insurance and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Carter as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
