| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Frank Ramirez Jr. of San Antonio has dedicated his |

| 6 | 7 | | life to the service of his country and his community; and |
|---|
| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio, Mr. Ramirez grew up on the |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | south side of the city, and after graduating from Harlandale High |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | School in 1978, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | served for four years; upon his return to civilian life, he helped |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | manage the family business his father founded in 1971, Ramirez |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Roofing; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez went on to answer his nation's call to |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | duty once again, and for the past 18 years, he has served as a member |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | of the U.S. Air Force in a number of locations throughout the world, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | including Iraq, where he completed a tour in 2011; he is currently a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | chief master sergeant, a rank that is attained by only one percent |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of enlisted personnel, and he is an honored member of the 149th |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Civil Engineer Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring example of civic engagement as well, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Mr. Ramirez gives generously of his time and energy to Toys for Tots |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | and the YMCA; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ramirez enjoys the love |

| 24 | 25 | | and support of his wife of 21 years, Leticia Ramirez, and he |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | delights in spending time with his children, Frank and Lauren, and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | his grandson, Landon; he also counts hunting and fishing, playing |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | baseball, and rooting for the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Cowboys among his favorite pursuits; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Frank Ramirez has set an inspiring example for |

| 30 | 31 | | others through his military and community service, and his efforts |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | are indeed deserving of our respect and gratitude; now, therefore, |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby commend Frank Ramirez Jr. for his exemplary |
