| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the most accomplished students are named |

| 7 | 8 | | and a group of outstanding young men and women in the Rio Grande |

| 8 | 9 | | Valley have earned this prestigious honor as members of the Class of |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley Partnership recognized the top |

| 11 | 12 | | two graduating seniors from every high school in the region at its |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | 28th annual Valley Proud Honors Banquet on May 22, 2017; a total of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | 113 students were commended for their scholastic excellence, and a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | number of these talented young people will be selected to receive |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | scholarships to help further their higher education goals; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Achieving the title of valedictorian or |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | salutatorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; in |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | securing their place at the top of their class, these students |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | and the rewards of the countless hours they devoted to their studies |

| 22 | 23 | | are myriad; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The valedictorians and salutatorians of the Rio |

| 24 | 25 | | Grande Valley represent the future of the Lone Star State, and they |

| 25 | 26 | | may reflect with great pride on their many accomplishments as they |
